The Election Commission on September 29 has taken the decision not to conduct elections. The Commission will not conduct Bye-elections in seven vacancies in Legislative Assemblies of the states of Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal.
The Election Commission has received inputs expressing difficulties in the conduct of elections and issues related to it from Chief Secretaries and Chief Electoral Officers from the four states.
Regarding the other, recent vacancies in the Parliamentary Constituency and Legislative Assembly, the Commission will decide only after taking necessary inputs from concerned states.
The following are the 7 Legislative Assembly vacancies of various states:
Assam: 74-Rangapara and 108-Sibsagar
Kerala: 106-Kuttanad and 117-Chavara
Tamil Nadu: 10-Tiruvottiyur and 46-Gudiyattam (SC)
West Bengal: 13-Falakata (SC)
