Guwahati: NIA special court on Friday rejected the bail plea of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) chief Akhil Gogoi. He was arrested for his alleged role in violence during the Citizenship (Amendment) Act protests in the state.
Confirming to Headline8, Akhil Gogoi’s advocate Krishna Gogoi said, “The court rejected the bail plea. We are studying the judgments in details and the reason for the rejection. We will move the higher court very soon.”
The peasant leader, who was earlier tested positive for Covid-19, is currently admitted at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
He was arrested on December 12 last year from Jorhat amid the looming law and order situation across the state over the CAA. He was later handed over to the central agency for his alleged links with Maoist elements and a role in the violent protests.
