Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman will attend the ceremonial distribution of the Third Phase of ‘Chah Bagicha Dhan Puraskar Mela’ scheme at Assam Veterinary College Playground, Khanapara in Guwahati.
The objective of the ‘Chah Bagicha Dhan Puraskar Mela’ is to incentivize and strengthen the efforts of financial inclusion of the tea tribe community. This flagship scheme was launched in the Financial Year (FY) 2017-18.
Under this scheme, Rs. 3000 will be credited to 7,46,667 tea workers each. This will be under the third tranche of DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).
In Phase -1 of the scheme, Rs. 2500 was credited to 6,33,411 tea garden workers in 2017-18. In Phase-2, a total of 7,15,979 tea garden workers got Rs. 2500.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will also attend the event. The distribution ceremony is scheduled to start from 12:30 pm onwards.
