Sports Desk: Wasim Khan, the Chief Executive of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has asked the International Cricket Council (ICC) to get written assurance from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that the Pakistani team will not face any difficulty in getting visas to play in 2021’s T20 World Cup and also the 50 over World Cup which is scheduled to be held in 2023.
It is to be noted that due to Pakistan’s failure to stop cross-border terrorism, the bilateral relation between the two countries is at its all-time low at this moment. Due to this reason, the BCCI has suspended all the cricketing ties with Pakistan.
Given the current relation of India with Pakistan, PCB has asked the governing body of the game (ICC) to get assurance from the BCCI in written form.
“We are also looking at the fact that the ICC World Cups are to be hosted in India in 2021 and 2023 and we have already asked the ICC to give us written assurance from BCCI that we will not face any problems getting visas and clearance to play in India.” Wasim Khan said in an interview on the YouTube Channel ‘Cricket Bazz’.
The PCB CEO also stated that many Pakistani sporting squads were not given clearance by the Indian government to play in India in recent times.
Since 2007, the two countries have not played any full-series in India. In 2012, they played a short series of three ODIs and two T20s in India. Since then both the teams have faced each other only in the ICC events and the Asia Cup.
Two Pakistanis were denied visas to compete in New Delhi in a shooting event in February last year.
