International Desk: Roger Federer set to miss the rest of the 2020 season after having to undergo an additional arthroscopic procedure on his right knee.
The Swiss maestro had the initial arthroscopic surgery in February, but his rehabilitation has not gone according to plan and he won’t return to action until next year.
The 20- time Grand Slam winner released the devastating news on social media where he provided an update to his supporters.
“A few weeks ago, having experienced a setback during my initial rehabilitation, I had to have an additional quick arthroscopic procedure on my right knee,” the 38-year-old said on twitter.
Federer is set to miss the two remaining Grand Slams the US Open scheduled to start on 31 August and the French Open beginning on 20 September. He attempts to return at the 2021 Australian Open.
Federer’s last match was his semi-final loss to Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open last January.
