Chinese tech giant Xiaomi unveiled CyberOne, a humanoid robot. After introducing a robot dog, the CyberDog, in August 2021, this is the country’s first humanoid robot.
The CyberOne was introduced alongside the company’s foldable phone. On stage, the humanoid robot was seen with the company’s chief executive officer, Lei Jun. On stage, the robot presented Jun with a flower.
The CyberOne poses for a selfie with Jun after demonstrating a few moves.
According to Xiaomi, the CyberOne has advanced arms and legs that support bipedal-motion posture balancing. The humanoid also has a high emotional quotient, can detect human emotions, and has advanced vision capabilities, according to the company.
CyberOne is equipped with two microphones and two cameras that allow it to hear and see in three dimensions. It analyses human vocal expressions using microphones and can detect 45 different emotions.
The CyberOne weighs 52 kg and stands 5 feet 8 inches tall (177 cm). It can walk at a speed of 3.6 km/h and grip objects as it does so. It should be noted that CyberOne is still in development and may not be ready for commercial launch for some time. Each CyberOne unit can cost between CNY 600,000 and CNY 700,000 (roughly 71 lakh to 82.8 lakh). If the company intends to build it on a large scale, the price will have to be significantly reduced.
The CyberOne is still in its early stages of development and cannot be compared to other humanoid robots like Boston Dynamics’ Atlas. Atlas has been in development by Boston Dynamics for over 25 years.
Tesla, led by Elon Musk, has revealed that it is developing a robot called Optimus, which will be released in 2023. Musk also claimed that the robot industry would be “worth more than the car business.”
