The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) on Monday introduced an Android beta version of the DigiYatra app, which would allow travellers to check in faster at the Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 3.
A traveller will pass through different airport checkpoints using paperless and contactless processing, using facial features to verify identity, which will be connected to the boarding pass, under the Digi Yatra project.
“DIAL had installed the required facility at Terminal 3 of Delhi Airport and already conducted its DigiYatra trials. Nearly 20,000 passengers had the seamless and secured travel experience after using the facility during the trials,” the statement mentioned.
These 20,000 or more travellers then entered their biometric and other information onto kiosks at Terminal 3 for their individual flights.
Passengers will now submit their biometrics and other information through this app, and it will be saved for all flights they take at the Delhi airport’s Terminal 3. A traveller is not required to provide biometric information at Terminal 3 before each trip.
The DigiYatra app’s beta version is now accessible on the Android platform and will be available on the IOS platform in a few weeks, according to the DIAL, who said that the app would be used by passengers to complete their entire biometric registration.
After installing the app, the passenger must provide his or her phone number and Aadhar card information. The traveller must then snap a selfie, enter vaccination information, and scan the boarding card, according to the instructions.
