Ahead of the Assam Assembly elections, Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha has declared Dry Day in the district from 5 pm of March 25 to 5 pm of March 27. Dry Day in Dibrugarh is also announced on the counting day of votes, May 2 till the end of counting, and on the day of Re-Poll (if any declared).
All kinds of liquor wholesale warehouses, wine shops, sales of liquor in hotels, clubs, country-made liquor shops have been declared closed.
Violations of this order will be subject to disciplinary action under the Assam Excise Act.
The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Dibrugarh District issued an order which further states’
“No illegal storage of any intoxicant by any person or group of persons on those days in the respective areas shall be allowed and action will be taken against those who violate the relevant provisions of the Assam Excise Act & Rules”
