The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Field Office Tezpur, operating under the Regional Office Guwahati, organized a vibrant Swachhata awareness event today at Panpur, Jamuguri, Sonitpur, as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission. This initiative aimed to promote cleanliness and environmental responsibility within the community.
The day-long program engaged participants in various interactive activities designed to foster community involvement and emphasize the importance of cleanliness. Shri Kripa Shankar Yadav, Additional Director General of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, was present at the event. In his address, he highlighted the government’s Swachhata initiatives and encouraged everyone to take part in cleanliness activities.
The program featured an extempore speech competition focused on cleanliness-related topics, inspiring youth to take responsibility for maintaining hygienic surroundings. Additionally, a quiz competition was organized to test participants’ knowledge on Swachhata initiatives, environmental conservation, and personal hygiene practices. A Rangoli-making contest was also held, showcasing participants’ artistic talent with colourful designs centred around the theme of cleanliness.
Other dignitaries that attended the event included Dr. Amit Borah, Community Health Officer, Panpur; Ms. Chitralekha Devi, Principal of Panpur HS School; and Shri Pabitra Kumar Das, Chairman of the SC Development Board, Sonitpur, among others.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local students and residents, creating an atmosphere of awareness and a collective commitment to cleanliness. The CBC team emphasized the importance of individual actions in building a cleaner and greener India and urged the community to adopt sustainable practices, such as proper waste management and reducing plastic use.
