Indian Oil Corporation Limited has targeted to achieve Net Zero by the year 2046 in line with India’s pledge at COP 26 to become net zero by 2070 and accordingly, various initiatives like energy reduction, tree plantation, replacement of conventional fuel by green fuel etc. have been lined up to achieve the coveted target.
As a part of ongoing net zero initiatives, Guwahati Refinery aims for reduction of emissions through additional tree plantation through “Modified” AKIRA MIYAWAKI method also for carbon sequestration at its identified 1.2 hectare land wherein 25,000 saplings of more than 4 species of saplings native species shall be planted. And, for successful execution of the initiative, Guwahati Refinery signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Pollution Control Board, Assam on 5th June, 2024 during the World Environment Day celebrations by Guwahati Refinery.
