Demonstrating Indian Oil’s core values of ‘Care’, Guwahati Refinery today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Cancer Care Foundation for providing special medical equipment to Silchar Cancer Centre, Assam under its CSR initiatives. At an official signing ceremony organized today at Guwahati Refinery, the agreement was signed by GK Goyari, Chief General Manager & Refinery Head, Guwahati Refinery and Kumar Nandula, CFO, Tata Cancer Care Foundation in the presence of Gautam Chintey, Project Director, Assam Cancer Care Foundation and senior officials from Indian Oil, Assam Cancer Care Foundation, Tata Cancer Care Foundation and Tata Trusts.
The MOU between IndianOil Guwahati Refinery and Tata Cancer Care Foundation establishes a partnership wherein Guwahati Refinery will extend a financial support of Rs 16. 39 crore in providing medical equipment like LINAC for delivering external beam radiation therapy, Treatment Planning System-computer based software system used in radiation oncology, Dosimetry & Immobilization devices as well as Brachytherapy i.e internal radiation therapy used to treat Cancer.
Speaking on the occasion, GK Goyari expressed his happiness to be a part of this collaboration and hoped that the support would further help the targeted Cancer patients of the region in availing an affordable Cancer treatment. During the MoU signing ceremony, Udit Jain, Chief General Manager (HRD & CSR), IndianOil talked about IndianOil’s various CSR initiatives in the area of Health Care which also encompasses support to Barpeta Cancer Care Centre, Dr. B Barooah Cancer Institute as well as in various other programs like eradication of TB and Sickle Cell Anaemia. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Gautam Chintey, Director , Assam Cancer Care Foundation appreciated IndianOil’s support in providing the required medical equipment to Silchar Cancer Centre and threw light on how it would go a long way in providing cancer care to the targeted patients.
It is to be mentioned that Silchar Cancer Centre is a Cancer Centre at Silchar Medical College & Hospital Campus with state of the art equipment and world class infrastructure for Cancer Diagnostic and treatment which will cater not only to the Cancer patients of Assam but also to the neighboring states of Tripura, Mizoram and parts of Meghalaya.
