Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi participated today in the National ‘PM Vishwakarma’ Programme, celebrating one year of achievements under the initiative. The event took place in Wardha, Maharashtra. During the programme, Prime Minister released certificates and loans to PM Vishwakarma beneficiaries and also released a commemorative stamp dedicated to mark one year of progress under PM Vishwakarma. He also distributed credit under PM Vishwakarma to 18 beneficiaries under 18 trades. As a tribute to their legacy and enduring contribution to society, he released a commemorative stamp dedicated to mark one year of progress under PM Vishwakarma.
As part of this nationwide celebration, 50 training centres across the country were identified for virtual connection to the main event in Wardha. Among these, two centres in Assam-Orion Edutech Panjabari PMKK and Nowgong Polytechnic Workshop were highlighted for their commitment to enhancing skill development.
In Guwahati, the local event took place at Bipanan Khetra, Panjabari, where 28 Vishwakarma trainees were awarded certificates for successfully completing the training. The event was graced by Bijuli Kalita Medhi, MP, Guwahati. Another event in the state was held at Nowgong Polytechnic, attended by State Cabinet Minister Pijush Hazarika.
Pijush Hazarika in a post on X stated that PM Narendra Modi is taking various initiatives for the holistic development of people across all sections. Last year the PM launched ‘Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma’ scheme to provide end-to-end support to artisans.
The PM Vishwakarma Scheme was launched by the Prime Minister on 17th September 2023. The Scheme aims to provide end-to-end support to artisans and craftspeople of 18 trades who work with their hands and tools. The Scheme components include recognition through PM Vishwakarma Certificate and ID Card, Skill upgradation, Toolkit Incentive, Credit Support, Incentive for Digital Transactions and Marketing Support. In Assam, the total number of applications submitted at PM Vishwakarma portal is 6,67,147. Currently PMV ID is available to 77,960 candidates and 387 candidates are undergoing training in the state.
