Yi Guwahati Chapter, the youth wing of the Confederation of Indian Industry in association with the Board of Secondary Education, Assam conducted the 3rd All Assam Young Achievers Quiz competition to mark World Environment Day 2023 in Guwahati. The theme for this year’s competition was ‘How green is your IQ?’. The competition was held online where school students of classes 9-12 from across Assam participated.
Dr. Anubhuti Deorah, Chair, Thalir, Young Indians, Guwahati Chapter welcomed all the dignitaries to the event, mentioned, “The objective of the Quiz is to create awareness among the children about climate change and make them conscious of the environment.”
At the inauguration, Ramesh C Jain, IAS, (Retd), Chairman, SEBA said, “I am grateful to associate with Yi and CII. This is the third year for SEBA collaborating with them, I hope this association goes a long way.” He also thanked the Quiz Master Venky Srinivasan, CEO, Nexus Consulting for conducting the competition.
Ranoj Pegu, Education Minister of Assam, who was present as the Chief Guest at the event said, “I would like to thank SEBA, Young Indians Guwahati Chapter, and Confederation of Indian Industry for this collaboration. I am very impressed by this quiz competition and wish all the best for the coming years. We must create awareness among our students to conserve the environment. Celebration of World Environment Day comes with a promise to save the environment and the world.”
The Minister announced the names of the winners. Saoda Begum Khan (IX) of Moonlight Academy from Barak Valley bagged the first prize. She scored 90 points and was awarded Rs. 13,000/-. Chandril Pathak (IX) of Suderashan Public School bagged the second prize with 85 points. He was awarded Rs. 10,000/-. The third position was bagged by Akash Dev (IX), Nagaon Bengali Higher Secondary School. He scored 80 points and awarded Rs. 7000/-. The winning schools received Rs. 5000/- each.
A total of 2332 students registered online to participate in the third edition of the quiz competition. Top 7 participants later qualified for the finals. Rest of the 4 finalists were awarded Rs. 1000/- each.
Ramesh C. Jain, IAS, (Retd), Chairman, Board of Secondary Education (SEBA); Mr. Nitesh Todi, Chair, Young Indians, Guwahati Chapter; Mr. Prakash Agarwal, Co-Chair, Young Indians, Guwahati Chapter, members of YI Guwahati chapter Brinda Beria, Hamad Berlashker, Ankit Harlalka were present at the event along with other delegates.
