A special meeting held among The Minister of Education and Welfare of Plain Tribe and Backward Classes of Assam Ranoj Pegu and members of Indigenous Tribal Sahitya Sabha and Assam Sahitya Sabha where a very serious decision has been taken on giving priority to every Tribal languages of Assam. The decision of all Tribal languages to be implemented as medium of Education under article 350 (A) and the National Education Policy 2020 has been taken after the serious discussion.
The languages are Mising, Rabha, Tiwa and Deori which to be implemented as medium of education up to 5th standard while Karbi language up to 8th standard and Boro and Garo languages to be implemented as medium up to class 12. On the other hand the Dimasa language will be included as a subject in the syllabus.
The Government has entrusted the State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT) to conduct the necessary planning for the preparation of publishing textbooks and learning materials.
The Government has asked each Sahitya Sabha to provide the list of the schools for the implementation.
Several other decisions have been taken such as 3 Crores of fund released for the dictionary making of 11 languages of Assam, reward of 50 thousands to provide to writers of different tribal languages etc.
