Covid-19 has forced all kinds of events to take the digital route. Digital will continue to remain an integral part of fashion shows across the world.
Forced by this crisis, fashion experts and curators began imagining newer formats to stay relevant. As a result, shows have gone virtual and the ramps have been replaced with green screens and real-time compositions that track the motion of view so that the audience comfortably seated in their living rooms and can witness the magic up close with access to vantage points.
The Indian fashion fraternity has put up three virtual fashion shows till now. The shows were India Couture Week, The Blender’s Pride Fashion Tour and the recently-concluded Lakme Fashion Week.
Organizing a digital show seamlessly was easier according to some organizer. However, presenting a physical experience in a virtual way has its own set of challenges and protocols. Numerous re-dos to get that one perfect shot, constant sanitization and health tests, are some of the many precautions being taken to ensure the safety.
According to some experts digital will continue to remain an integral part of fashion shows across the world. While a virtual fashion week could never really rival the old standard, however, the use of evolved technology is making virtual shows look equally impressive.
Some reports also suggest that 3D avatars wearing digitally created clothing, real models’ faces beamed onto 3D bodies and real models wearing real or digital clothing are all options that might dominate the world of online fashion sooner.
